WHEATON, IL — Wheaton will celebrate winter with live ice carving, open ice skating, S’mores, and more at the city’s annual Ice-A-Palooza and Ice Cube Fests, which take place on Feb. 9. Ice-A-Palooza runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Central Athletic Complex Ice Rinks and Ice Cubed takes place from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. in Martin Memorial Plaza.
Visitors can stroll the streets of downtown Wheaton to see sparkling ice sculptures right outside of some of their favorite shops. This year, participants can take part in a scavenger hunt and look for clues in local stores and restaurants for a chance to win prizes.
Kids can meet Elsa and Anna from Frozen at Ice-A-Palooza and play winter-themed games and hockey when they aren’t cutting the ice on their skates. If you attend Ice-A-Palooza, you can rent and buy skates at Play It Again Sports. Supply is limited, though, so organizers say it’s best to bring your own skates if possible.
