WHEATON, IL — City officials in Wheaton are set to break ground on a huge undertaking to revamp the downtown streetscape. The groundbreaking ceremony for the much-anticipated project is set for April 6 at 11 a.m.

Wheaton’s Downtown Streetscape Project will transform the downtown area over a span over four years. Plans include widening the sidewalks, moving Martin Memorial Plaza, and adding an outdoor fireplace, a new fountain, improved lighting, and other touches to the scenery.

Mayor Michael Gresk and other city officials will be on hand at Martin Memorial Plaza for the groundbreaking to kick off what will be a big next step in shaping downtown Wheaton’s future.
