    Kick off the Wheaton Wine & Cultural Arts Festival Tonight (Friday) with Dinner and Wine Specials at these Downtown Restaurants:

    Ivy: Indulge in an almond crusted marlin in a spicy apple chardonnay reduction specially priced at $27.00.  Wine Festival tickets are also available for purchase at Ivy- located at 120 North Hale.  

    The Bank Restaurant: Present your Wheaton Wine festival ticket and The Bank will offer 10% off your dinner (1 discount per ticket), this evening only, Friday, Sept. 20th. Tickets are also available for purchase at The Bank-located 121 West Front Street in Downtown Wheaton.

    Wheaton’s Wine & Cultural Arts Festival – See You There!

    Memorial Park-208 West Union, Downtown Wheaton

    Join us for an exciting afternoon in the park featuring 72 wines, original works of art and live music. Vote for your favorite wine of the day—the winning wine will then be featured in selected Downtown Wheaton restaurants throughout the year.

    Presented by the Downtown Wheaton Association & The Wheaton Park District

    Tickets are $25 in advance for 12  1 oz. tastings and a souvenir glass. A $5 designated driver entry fee for patrons 21 or older.  Additional tastes can be purchased during the festival.  Beer and wine by the glass are also available for $5 and soda is $2.   Admission is free for 20 and under.     Volunteers are needed! Increase your wine acumen! What better way to enjoy the festival and expand your knowledge of wine by serving as a volunteer in one of the many winery booths, assisting with ticket sales and greeting the public. All volunteers are rewarded with a souvenir t-shirt, souvenir wine glass.  Please note if you select to be a wine pourer, you will need to attend a special session to be properly trained to serve alcohol. There are two training sessions:  Tuesday, September 17th from 6pm to 7:30pm at the DuPage County Historical Museum and on the day of  Sept. 21st at 9:30am in Memorial Park at the Leisure Center (for both morning and afternoon shifts).   To sign up just go to:

    Hogwash, Jazz and More in Downtown Wheaton

    Hogwash at Adele'sThis weekend promises to be one to remember. One terrific event after the next is scheduled in Downtown Wheaton. Hogwash, a pig roast and wine tasting, takes place Sunday at Adelle’s. Tonight, July 26, legendary jazz artist Judy Roberts is performing at Suzette’s and singer-songwriter Xoe Wise plays Adelle’s. Plus, don’t forget the Battle of the Bands Regional Competition tomorrow. See below for details!

    Hogwash: Pig Roast and Wine Tasting

    Co-sponsored by Adelle’s and Cabernet & Co., Hogwash is Adelle’s outdoor pig roast accompanied by appetizers, side dishes and even desserts—all having something to do with pork. Look for loaded potato salad, pork belly & beans, black pepper & crispy prosciutto deviled eggs, maple-bacon doughnuts and several more. Live music will add to the fun: Jack Avery of Jack Avery’s kin will perform!

    • Taste 50 different Pinot wines, i.e. Pinot Noir, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, etc.

    Legendary Judy Roberts Performs at Suzette’s Tonight

    This is a profoundly incredible opportunity for the Western Suburbs to hear two members of the original London House Trio. The London House, back when jazz was hot in Chicago, and that was the place to be. Starting her Chicago Tour at the Jazz Showcase, July 17-21, Judy will then be sitting in with our Friday Evening Jazz Trio on July 26 and August 2. Judy and our very own Rusty Jones are two of the original London House Trio. The trio will be joined by Greg Fishman, saxophonist-flutist and Judy’s husband. These will definitely be nights to remember!

    More about Judy Roberts

    The Chicago Tribune has awarded pianist/singer Judy Roberts the title “Chicago’s Favorite Jazz Woman.” A multiple Grammy nominee, her twenty-plus album/CD releases include the “The Other World,” whose hit single “Señor Blues” was number one on the jazz charts and in radio airplay.

    She is also recognized as a worldwide jazz star thanks to the success of her international recordings and concert performances. Judy is best known for her fun-loving approach, her vivacious piano playing, her ability to combine sensitive vocals with rapid-fire scat singing and her unique talent for communicating with her audience in a relaxed and intimate style.

    Xoe Wise Plays at Adelle’s Tonight

    Come out and see Xoe at Adelle’s tonight. Her spiritual ballades and easy singer-songwriter pop style make her a crowd-pleasing favorite at Adelle’s. She has contributed music to DVD extras and promotional materials for major Hollywood films, including  V for Vendetta, Ninja Assassin and Sherlock Holmes.

    More about Xoe Wise

    Originally from a small town on the ocean in North Carolina, Wise burst onto the Chicago scene in 2009, collaborating with Ethan Stoller on her album, Echo. This debut album was released in October of 2010 to critical acclaim. Chicago Innerview recognized Wise as “easily the singer/songwriter and pop counterpart to Columbia native Chaz Bundick’s (a.k.a. Toro Y Moi) laconic chill-wave synth ballads.”

    Xoe Wise has performed at venues ranging from Hotel Cafe in Los Angeles to Hard Rock in Nashville. She has shared the stage with such artists as Lisa Loeb, Greg Laswell, Tyrone Wells, and more. She finished her tour with fellow Chicago artist Matt Ryd in summer 2011 and released Archive of Illusions on May 1, 2012.

    She is currently working on an Electronic project and plans to continue writing and playing live in different forms withing Chicago, IL.

    Suzette's Jazz Fest Bastille DayJoin Suzette’s this weekend as they celebrate their 13th anniversary with a three-day extravaganza! The fun starts Friday evening, July 12, with Jazz on the Patio. From 6:30-9:30, Suzette’s Jazz Trio Plus One will be entertaining al fresco, for your dining pleasure. This accomplished group includes Rusty Jones, Drummer, Larry Harris, Keyboard, Dan Shapera, Bass, and Mark Demmin, Vocals.

    Saturday, July 13: Gypsy Jazz at Suzette’s

    From 4–7:00 PM Chicago’s Hipster Gypsy Jazz Group, lePercolateur, will perform. They are a “gypsy jazz quintet who apply that idiom to modernistic pop tunes, as well as vintage jazz compositions” —Neil Tesser, Chicago Examiner. 
Enjoy dinner or cocktails while listening to this hot, new genre.

    Viper’s Dream then takes the stage from 7–10:00 PM: This group is the best kept secret on the Chicago Jazz Scene. Combine the sounds of Django Reinhardt and the Hot Jazz Clubs of Paris and you have a dream—Viper’s Dream.

    Suzette's CanCan GirlsAndy Schlender & Kevin Brown Duo play from 10:00 AM–1:00 PM: Sip on a Mimosa, Bloody Mary or Anton’s Famous Beaujolais Punch, while enjoying a standard jazz repertoire with a touch of Balkan & Turkish rhythms accomplished by Andy and Kevin. Breakfast menu: 8:00 AM–12:00 noon.

    Grand French Picnic, 12–5:00 PM: Back by Popular Demand! Internationally-known, locally-loved, Robin’s hip, jazzy piano & cool, feisty, girl-next-door vocals make you want to hear more.
