Muldoon’s, an Irish pub at 133 W. Front St., Wheaton, is bringing in a new brunch menu to a restaurant that has been part of the community since 2002 and a building that has been around since about 1852.

“It really is a menu that can really halt the community as far as what the people are used to. … We have a little bit of a different spin on the traditional stuff,” said Frank DiBrizzi, general manager at Muldoon’s.

Brunch will be served from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sundays.

Oscar Merida, head chef at Muldoon’s since roughly April 2017, came up with the recipes for the brunch menu items, which he said he’s excited to offer.

“I hope they enjoy it when they taste it,” he said.

Merida added he is open to suggestions from guests about the brunch menu, which includes several options like omelettes, chilaquiles and breakfast poutine, which is hand-cut fries topped with sausage gravy, chopped bacon, cheese curds and a fried egg. There also is berry bread pudding French toast, which is coated in a sweet batter with custard sauce and fresh berries, and a soda bread cherry scone, which has Grand Marnier-soaked cherries and a pecan and orange glaze.

“I think there’s a definite demand for it,” DiBrizzi said about the brunch menu. “There’s a couple breakfast places in the area, which do a great job, and we felt because we can serve alcohol, we’d be a nice addition to that list.”
