9th Annual Chili Cook-Off

Local Downtown Wheaton restaurants will once more enter the fray and fun of the 9th Annual Chili Cook Off taking place Saturday, November 4th. From 1pm to 5pm, chili lovers will be able to sample a variety of chili recipes prepared and served by 15 participating restaurants and eateries.
Tickets are available for $22 for adults and $10 for children (12 years and under) and may be purchased on line at www.downtownwheaton.com. Tickets are also available for purchase in the Downtown Wheaton Association offices (108 East Wesley) Monday- Friday from 9am to 4pm. Tickets will also be available for sale the day of the event at Martin Memorial Plaza at Front and Main Streets in Downtown Wheaton.
This year’s 15 participating restaurants include:
Brick’s Wood Fired Pizza, Choun’s Restaurant, Dry City Brew Works (featuring Steamboat BBQ), Egg’lectic Café, El Zarape Restaurant, Emmett’s Brewing Company, Front Street Cantina, Gia Mia Pizza Bar, Gino’s East of Chicago, Ivy Restaurant, My Half of the Sky, Muldoon’s Irish-American Eatery, Sogno, Suzette’s Creperie and The Burger Social.
Ticket holders are invited to visit all participating restaurants, enjoy a taste of chili at each stop and cast their vote for their favorite chili. The winners of the ‘people’s choice’ will be announced between 5:30pm and 6pm at Ivy Restaurant at 120 North Hale (last year’s first place winner).
Last year’s Chili Cook Off drew over 900 attendees. Each participating restaurant is asked to prepare between 25 and 35 gallons of chili. All proceeds benefit the Downtown Wheaton Association marketing and special event efforts throughout the year.
